Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review by any other journal.
  • The manuscript file is in Microsoft Word (.docx) format, single-spaced, on A4 paper with 1-inch margins.
  • All figures and tables are cited in the text and included within the document in acceptable formats (JPG, TIFF, GIF, PNG, EPS).
  • The reference list follows the JOSRAR referencing style as specified in the Author Guidelines.
  • The abstract does not exceed 300 words and is followed by 4–6 keywords.
  • Where applicable, ethics committee approval has been obtained and stated in the manuscript.
  • All authors have been listed with full names, affiliations, and the corresponding author is clearly identified.
  • The submission fee (₦5,000 for Nigerian authors / $10 USD for international authors) has been paid and evidence of payment is attached.
  • The manuscript has been checked for plagiarism and meets the journal's originality standards.
  • All co-authors have reviewed and approved the submission.

Articles

Original research papers presenting new, unpublished findings. Must include Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion sections.

Reviews

Comprehensive review articles synthesising existing literature on a significant scientific topic. Should be thorough, critical, and forward-looking.

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish in this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. The default license for this journal is a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives license (CC BY-NC-ND), however authors can request that their work be published under a different CC-BY license if required by their funding organisation. If needed, authors should clearly state this and the relevant CC-BY license in their cover letter during submission of their manuscript.
  3. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  4. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work
